Prior to your lip enhancement, you’ll meet with one of our maxillofacial surgeons for a private consultation. They’ll listen attentively as you describe your goals and talk you through your options for lip enhancement. Depending on your desired results, they’ll help you choose the right size of implant to create fuller, natural-looking contours.
At your appointment, the surgeon first applies a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area. Once the anesthetic has taken full effect, your surgeon makes an incision in each corner of your mouth. Then, they carefully pass the PermaLip implant through a small tunnel under the surface of your lip. The surgeon then repeats this process for the other lip, if included in your treatment plan.
Placing lip implants typically takes about an hour. Some patients may require 2 to 3 days of downtime, but you may be able to resume some light activity as soon as the next day. It takes about a week for any residual swelling or bruising to subside, letting you enjoy your full results.
