Because you’ll be under general anesthesia for your neck lift, there are some strict guidelines you need to follow prior to your procedure. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight before your appointment, and do not smoke for at least 12 hours before. Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you to the office, remain in the waiting room during the procedure, and drive you home afterwards.

Wear comfortable, loose clothing to your appointment. Make sure to remove any contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures prior to the surgery. Do not wear lipstick, any make-up, or nail polish during your surgery. If you come down with an illness like a cold, sore throat, etc., please call our office in advance so that we can reschedule your appointment if necessary.

Most patients require 2 weeks of downtime immediately after their surgery with 4 to 6 weeks total for the initial recovery. During this time, it’s critical to follow your post-care instructions and take all medication as instructed by your doctor.
